Ellen has profoundly impacted the modernization and advancement of in-home health care in Coastal Georgia and South Carolina. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Ellen received her baccalaureate degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and earned her master’s degree in nursing and healthcare administration at Penn State University.

Before founding THA in 1995, she was the CEO of Advanced Alternatives and Vice President of Provident Health Systems, a part of Memorial Health. She grew the regional company into a multi-state provider with 200 locations and 8,000 employees.

Ellen also pioneered telemetric home monitoring in the 1990s to help people take charge of their health at home. As a result, she earned the Honeywell HomMed’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Telehealth.

A nationally recognized leader in the field, Ellen sat on the board of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), is past chair emeritus of the South Carolina Home Health Care and Hospice Association Board of Directors, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Home Care Technology Association of America. She has spoken at industry conferences and has been published in numerous trade magazines and journals.

Among her countless community service endeavors, Ellen served as President of the Rotary Club of Savannah, as a member of the Georgia Southern University Foundation and the Union Society of Bethesda, and chaired the Alexis de Tocqueville Society at The United Way.

In 2018, Ellen received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Savannah College of Art and Design in recognition of her service to the community. The United Way of the Coastal Empire named her Woman of the Year in 2022.
